Pakistan cricket fans enter India to watch Mohali semi-final

Cricket lovers from Pakistan who were lucky enough to get tickets to the ICC World Cup semi-final match in Mohali on Wednesday started arriving in India through the Wagah-Attari border on Monday.

Daily News 4 You was present at the border as the cricket crazy people from the neighboring country entered India. Most of the fans said while they understood the tension involving the match, they hoped it would be played in a spirit of friendship.

Pakistani cricket fan Mohammed Abbas said, "I hope both teams put up a good show. I believe that this is the actual World Cup final between India and Pakistan. Both teams are balanced. I am also excited that three Asian teams are in the semi-finals."

The excitement was palpable as the cricket fans looked forward to an epic contest. They however said that they were also ready to accept the result with true sportsmanship.

Pakistani fan Sheena said, "Everyone is very excited. I think we should maintain our cordial relations. Victory or defeat is at the will of the God but I obviously want my country to win."

Among the Pakistani cricket lovers there were even fans of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh. They were expecting a high adrenaline match, especially after the mind game started by Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi.

They were also well aware of the political importance of the match as it is going to be the first India-Pakistan match being played on Indian soil after 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai.

"I hope it will be a good and friendly match. More importantly, the people of both the countries should enjoy it. Victory or defeat is not much of an issue. Everybody is very excited and Wednesday is a public holiday in Pakistan," said Romana Tanwir.
